Time to ask for God’s mercy On August 21, Read more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/08/time-ask-gods-mercy/
Within the next few weeks, we shall be in the ember months which signifies that we are moving closer to the end of 2016. JESUS JESUS What is that goal you are yet to achieve? Have your efforts in your professional exam been fruitless? Are you working like an elephant and eating like an ant? Is yours a situation in which you have worked so hard to build a home and you are enduring instead of enjoying your marriage? Is it about that child that is not living up to your expectation? Is yours a seeming endless wait for a life partner? Have you been waiting for the fruit of the womb? Whatever it is that you are believing God for, remember God is able. How do I know? My authority is found in the book of Jeremiah 32 vs. 27 which states: “Behold, I am the LORD , the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?” This should keep ringing in our hearts. Once our spirit is able to pick this up, then we are on the way to a breakthrough. But as we have always reminded one another in this column, God is for us all but we have our roles to play. This time around, I am focusing on mercy. Are you merciful? Whatever the challenge we are going through, we should find time to show mercy to others. When last did you make a presentation to an orphanage? You may ask, is this necessary? My answer is simple. Showing mercy is a way of sowing a seed. When last did you make presentation to the home of physically challenged children? For instance, I once met a woman who was trusting God for the fruit of the womb. She made it a habit to make contributions to the children’s department of her church. While doing this, some people mocked her, but today, to the glory of God, she is a mother of three including a set of twins. We need to show mercy to others as a way of invoking mercy from God. Romans 9 vs. 15 clearly states, “ For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion”. Verse 16 states, “ So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy”. The mercy of God gives us what we do not deserve but we must also know that it is the prerogative of God to show mercy to whoever He wants. This much is stated in Romans 9 verse 15. The mercy of God makes Him to intervene in our situation. When God’s mercy shows up, it puts an end to losses. For the woman who has been having miscarriages, when the mercy of God shows up, she will carry a baby to full term. The story of the widow of Nain is an example of a woman who received the mercy of God. Luke 7 vs 11-15 narrates the story of the who lost her only son . People besieged her home to mourn with her but they could not change her situation. Verses 13 – 15 of Luke 7 states: “ And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still and he said , Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. “And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak . And he delivered him to his mother”. In this season, everything that has been dead in your life will receive the breathe of life in the mighty name of Jesus. Cry for mercy ; get a miracle. As recorded in the Holy Bible, all who called on the Lord Jesus for mercy received it. Let’s remind one another of the story of blind Bartimeaus, the son Timaeus; a well known beggar. He knew he was not in a position to catch up with Jesus since he was blind but he knew his voice could catch up with the Lord Jesus. Mark 10 vs 47 and 48 states, “ And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal.” Note that he cried and cried for mercy. Brethren, you need to cry for mercy. Don’t shed tears that will make unfriendly friends mock you. Cry unto the Lord who will change your story. The cry of blind Bartimeaus changed his story. Mark 10 verse 52 states, “ And Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus all the way”. This season, before this year comes to end, your story will change for the best in the name of Jesus.Bear in mind that our God is the unchangeable changer. Are you holding a doctor’s report that says your situation is hopeless. Don’t break down. Arise and cry unto God for mercy and the one who can do all things will give you a new report. Testimony– I won’t end this article without sharing with you a testimony. A young couple who had been married for about three years were looking forward to having children. The in-laws put so much pressure that they caused a rift between the couple and the marriage collapsed. During prayer time, it was revealed to the wife that a relation of the husband visited the couple and stole the woman’s under wear. This item was taken to the forces of darkness who did something fetish to stop the woman from having children. Why ? They had a candidate that they wanted the man to marry. Anyway, the woman got into another relationship and, within a short period, she had a baby boy. News of the birth of baby got to the former husband . Whereas it was a day of joy for the woman, it was a sad day for the former husband and his relations. There are lessons to the learnt here. We should never allow anyone to have undue influence in our marriage. Also stop assuming that everyone who visits is a true friend. Jesus is the only true friend. I pray that everything that the enemy has denied you , the mercy of God will bring to physical manifestation in the mighty name of Jesus. Remember, pray and be watchful.
